How Can The DIY Industry Flourish During The Covid-19 Pandemic?

With us all being stuck at home, there’s plenty of opportunities for the DIY industry to flourish.

Being at home at lot more is enabling us to complete DIY projects that we don’t usually have time for.

Having worked from home in isolation these past weeks, I’ve already started noticing more and more ‘projects’ that need doing around the house. My ‘Home’ Pinterest board has doubled in size with creative ideas too.

And I know I’m not alone.

With time on their hands and nothing else to distract them, many people will be touching up their homes, clearing out their sheds and getting creative!

Whether it’s fixing a shelf, or finally finding the time to create a set of chess pieces, now is the time for anyone working in the DIY industry to excel.

Here’s a little something I’ve been working on.

Whether you sell physical materials or DIY training courses, your expertise and products will be more important and more in demand than ever before. But, without regular footfall or even people driving past, how do you ensure your audience knows you’re open for business (while doing all you can to stop the spread of the virus, of course)?

In the past days, people have flocked to the platforms to stay connected, sharing how they’re changing their daily routines and coping with being at home all the time.

But, as you may have already experienced, social media isn’t as easy as people make out. A simple post that says “Buy from me!” won’t guarantee results, especially with so many other businesses, small or large doing the same.

And in these times, how blatant can your sales messages be? Are you in danger of coming across as callous?

You’re going to have to be creative! And TRULY social!

You’re going to have to go looking for your audience, build a relationship with them, and convince them that communication from you is worth their time. So, where do you even start to look?
