Social Media Use Soars as Virus Takes Hold

Social media companies are recording significant increases in traffic as more and more people self isolate because of the Coronavirus.

Here at Status Social, we have witnessed posts, particularly on LinkedIn, receiving higher-than-normal engagement.

Has your business seen a spike in social media use on your channels?

Traditionally when economic downturns take place, the first thing to get cut is marketing. Despite evidence showing that organisations who spend more are the ones that buck the trend.

With the ability to meet, network, and attend events and exhibitions stifled. Social channels have to be taken more seriously than ever.

Research by Obviously found a 76 per cent increase in daily accumulated likes on Instagram advertising posts. There’s also been an engagement increase of 22 per cent on TikTok.

“Here’s hoping you (at Status Social) thrive at this time when we are all looking towards social media all the more.”

One of the brands we manage – a manufacturer in the dog food sector – has witnessed a 22 per cent increase in the number of people seeing posts on Facebook. The manufacturer has also seen a 4.1 per cent increase in engagement on Twitter.

There is probably no better time to turn to social media when it comes to marketing.

We don’t want businesses to close at a time like this. So if you’d like a free no-obligation chat on how social media could help you not only survive but thrive during this current crisis, get in touch.
